Whether you are a returning member or a new one - we thank you for your membership and participation in the Niagara-on-the-Lake Horticultural Society.
We are one of the horticultural societies in Ontario. We are a volunteer-run, charity organization. Our mission is to encourage the continual joy of learning about gardening. We welcome everyone interested in gardening, horticulture, and environmental stewardship. We maintain over 275 registered members. As a volunteer-run charity, we rely on the talents and engagement of our membership to accomplish our annual goals.
As a member you can enjoy any and all activities we offer our members.

Monthly Meetings - The Society hosts monthly meetings to educate members on a variety of horticultural topics and gardening techniques through Guest Speakers who share their expertise in their fields including gardening, horticultural and the environment.

Meetings take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month, January to May and September to November. Our meetings take place at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre, 14 Anderson Lane

Annual Plant Sale - An annual outdoor plant sale will be held on Saturday May 9, 2026 with many of the plants donated from our members' gardens. This event is a must attend for many avid gardeners in the region.

Annual Gardener's Garden Tour - The Society's renowned signature event, now in its 30th year, takes place July 11, 2026 and is open to the broader community to tour a variety of beautiful, private gardens in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Our tour attracts upwards of 1,000 visitors to town on the day of the tour.

Special Projects - The Society works with the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake and other groups to help support and create pollinator gardens, we maintain and enhance the William Nassau Garden, and the NOTL Library Garden (soon to be called the Joanne Young Memorial Garden). Soon we will take on the Labyrinth behind the library to update and upgrade it.

We provide Scholarships for three students at Niagara College Horticultural and Environmental Studies as well as Niagara Parks School of Horticulture.

Flowers for Seniors - During the winter holiday season, flower arrangements are created by our volunteers and delivered to seniors.

Volunteer Opportunities - We have many volunteer opportunities, including serving on the board, chairing an event, or helping with gardening projects.

E-​Newsletters - We publish regular e-newsletters to keep members informed and connected
