About the event
Apple Hill Apothecary officially opened their doors on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
The new business is owned by sisters Melissa and Jennifer Schooley. Melissa said the business is a “a medicinal herb farm and apothecary.”
Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) certification and what that means for traceability and sustainability around medicinal herbs. With an estimated 33% of natural health products on the global market adulterated with pharmaceuticals or herbs not listed on the label, contaminated with heavy metals, or with many times more or less active ingredients, being able to offer reliable, trustworthy and safe products is our priority. We will walk you through the steps we take to ensure safety, traceability and sustainability of everything we grow, the products we offer for sale and our business practices in general.
She said the apothecary sells natural health products, natural skin care products and culinary products.
The apothecary has a “carefully curated selection of sustainably sourced Canadian-made products for home, body, wellness, and joy,” she added.
“Every single thing in our store is sourced from a Canadian company. The majority of those companies are women-owned,” noted Melissa.
She said opening the store was the first phase of their plans — the next step is to install a medicinal herb garden.
This garden will allow for educational tours during the spring/summer/fall months, said Jennifer.Responsibly sourced from Canadian companies with a focus on environmental, social, economic and community sustainability.
Shop sustainably sourced natural health products from licenced Canadian companies, all-natural skin care products from woman-owned small businesses across the country, and unique & incredible culinary treats from Ontario to the Yukon, from BC to New Brunswick right here in Niagara on the Lake.
